I have a 1999 Dodge intrepid that is having a starting issue. It is not the battery because I checked the charge and the poles, and all of the dash instruments, lights, and radio stay operational. It does not make the clicking noise like the starter is trying to start, it just sits there in silence... at least I think it is silencesince i yell a lot. After a few days I will get in and it will fire up with no problems, drive it for a week and it will do it all over again. PLEASE HELP ME... I AM GOING INSANE.

 

When you turn the key and the malfunction is occuring, how bright are your lights? As for now, I'd say you have a bad starter. Most auto stores can check your starting system for free. Before it completely breaks, drive it in and have it checked for free.

 

When it does not want to start there is no change whatsoever in the brightness of the lights. I have not tried it when it was dark but I did look at the lights when I was trying to start it, no dimming was present. I will have the starter tested today... thanks.
