2001 2.7L engine burning oil
well, before i left for college last fall, i changed the oil and filter, PCV valve, air filter, and spark plugs...upon driving the 400ish miles to college, i checked the oil and noticed it was about a quart low...and since then, whenever i drive over 100 miles at a time, seems like the oil is lower after i get there. can i fix this somehow?
Or the drain plug is loose, check if there are external leaks around the filter and or drain plug.
Other than that, how many miles on the engine? What color is the exhaust? Are there evident oil leaks around the head? Do a compression test on all cylinders and record your findings. If low compression, then add about atbs of oil to each cyl (one at a time) and see if the compression changes. If so, rings are the problem. If not, the head gasket or head (valves) are at fault.
