Default Thank you for the enlightenment...

A friend of mine has a 99 Intrepid with the 2.7 and 185k on it. He loves the car, but it's got the upper engine noise, low oil pressure, and had a bout with a leaky waterpump i.e. milky oil. I've done rebuilds on DOHC engines and was considering tackling this one if I could obtain the car at a reasonable price.
After reading the wealth of information on this great forum, we have come toone very bigconclusion;

in

a

nutshell....

I will not buy the car from him.

I've read enough to convince me that this must be the most jackass design since GMs Quad 4.

I just had to do one of those water pumps last week. I didn't think there were any left on the road.

But just for reference, the 4.0 SOHC in the Ford's is a worse design. Four timing chains, and one of them is on the back of the engine. I'd rather do Northstar head gaskets. And I really don't like those.
