P1494 Leak Detection Pump Sw or Mechanical Fault an Incorrect input state detected for the Leak Detection Pump (LDP) pressure switch.
Sounds like a bad switch. It should be fairly easy to change, however I have never done one. As for the location, it must be near the evap canister, just look for a solinoid and/or somthing with an electric connector (as most evap systems do not have ele wires at all, this is a add on system...prob CA emmisions) Here is some info on the system.
LEAK DETECTION PUMP MONITOR The leak detection assembly incorporates two primary functions: it must detect a leak in the evaporative system and seal the evaporative system so the leak detection test can be run. The primary components within the assembly are: A three port solenoid that activates both of the functions listed above; a pump which contains a switch, two check valves, a spring/diaphragm, and a canister vent valve (CVV) seal which contains a spring loaded vent seal valve.
Good luck,
Kurt
