Default EGR valve

How do I know if my 2.7 (02 intrepid) has a EGR valve? I gave a auto parts place my vin # and he said it did. So I look in the repair book see where it is on the engine and it's not there on the engine. There is a area on the exhaust manifold that looks like the place for the egr tube would go, but it's not cut out for it.
thanks for any help.

under the hood, behind the engine, on back of your upper intake manifold. there are two pipes on either side of the throttle body, those are the tubes where the EGR puts exhaust gases back into the intake. follow those behind the engine to the EGR valve.

is your car running rough?

it's not running at all, it lost a connecting rod. i need to know for a replacement engine. the manual shows where the egr tube connects to the exhaust manifold, but on my engine there is no tube on the manifold. If i buy an engine that has one and mine don't will it run?

don't buy another 2.7!!! you will the same problems down the road. there is a flawed design with this engine and are highly prone to failures. look into a used 3.2 or 3.5. the price is in the same ballpark, trans matches up, and both 3.2/5 are reliable.
call around your area and check the yards. if you cannot find one, try www.car-part.com.
