Default Cluster Mileage Question

Hi, I recently changed my engine in my 02 Intrepid.. I bought a engine that had 67K miles on it from another Intrepid that was crashed...

but my cluster still reads my old engines mileage.. how do I get that to read the new engines mileage?

Thanks

The ODO is not for the engine its for the entire car, changing the mileage just because you change the motor is illegal and its called odometer fraud. There are legal ways to change the ODO but a motor swap is not one of them.

Dodge rams store the ODO in the Dash Cluster so a cluster swap changes the mileage, Not sure if the Intrepid is stored the same way or in the PCM. Either way changing it just to show lower mileage is illegal. Only way i've known to legally change the mileage is if the dash cluster is broke and you replace it with a higher or lower cluster State law (Missouri) is your suppose to have it adjusted to read correctly, and thats a dealer only and you cant just walk in and ask to have it done you gotta prove why which normally means the dealership has to check it out and confirm the Cluster is broke. We had to do this with a used car lots car and it was not cheap. And even then they have to send it out since most dealers dont have the proper tool, The DRB Chrysler scanning tool will not allow mileage change.

Hope this clears things up.
