Default Fuel filter help

I had this posted in tech but didn't get much exposure. Whats a fair price to replace a fuel filter in a 1999 Intrepid with the 3.2 engine?, and how much work is involved?
Thanks,
Michael

I can't tell you how much it will ,or should cost to change the fuel filter but I can tell you where it is.
Get ready for this one.
The Fuel filter is in the fuel tank sending unit in the gas tank. The filter is actualy part of the fuel presure regulatopr that sits atop the fuel tank sending unit. in order to change it you have to pull up the trunk liner and open the tank access hatch in the bottom of the trunk. From there you'll have to remove the sending unit and take the pressure regualtor off the top by pusing down on it and carefuly rotating a 1/4 turn to free the locking clips. Most parts store dont carry the presure regulator / fuel filter for this car so the odds are thay you'll have to visit Ma Mopar on this one.

Now, are you ready for the really bad news. 99 Intrepids....there is no trap door in the trunk....you must drop the fuel tank to get at it. I did it! Before you go thru all the bull....if you're just changing it for routine maintainance....leave it alone! They're supposed to last for the life of the car........I changed mine because I had a fuel pump problem.

There is also one on the floor pan under the rear seat. That one is cheaper and easier to get to. MAKE SURE YOU YOU RELEASE THE FUEL PRESSURE!!! VERY HAZARDOUS!!! There is what looks like a valve stem at the front of the fuel rails, just push the center and fuel will come out relieving the system of pressure.
