Default question on 1999 Dodge Intrepid. 3.2 v6

Hello, I just bought a 1999 Dodge Intrepid. 3.2 v6 engine. The guy I bought it from is telling me that he thinks there is a spun bearing on the crackshaft where piston #5 connects. He is telling me that when he disconnects spark plug wire #5 that the knocking stops. could that be because of play in the bearing? Next is the question on weather its possible or easy to replace the bearings on the crack just from under the car or does the engine have to be lifted out of the car? also, does anyone know of any pdf files or pictures or videos on how to go about doing this? I have worked on engines before in the past but never a dodge. I am a person that likes to go off a book on a step by step instructions on how to do it. please help with any info that you might have. thanks epi

Welcome to DF, and you are in luck! There is a post that contains a link to a PDF at the top of the 2nd gen forum. The post is titled "The Holy Grail". It should answer any of your questions.
