The engine controllers are different between 98 and 01. Better look at the tone wheels for the crank and cam sensors to make shure they are identical between the 2 engines. won't run if they are different. You can switch them from 1 engine to the other to make it work.
I have a 99 dodge intrepid I put a 00 concord 2.7 in it the motor works but it takes about 8seconds to crank up. Why is that the motor look the same so I don't see why it does this. Any suggestion for this issue I'm having.

So is the cam trigger the reason for the delayed start and if so how do I go about changing it.
From what we found is that if you put have the wrong cam trigger, you'll get a no start condition. A delayed start can be a multitude of issues. Inorder to solve this problem, you need a scanner, factory shop manual and diagnostic abilities. Have you checked fuel pressure on startup? Have you used a dual trace oscilliscope to check cam and crank sensor signals?
