Hi guys. I'm deciding on a first car, and looking for something sporty, good looking, decent power, not a complete gas guzzler, and something safe. The closest i could find for this under 5000 was a 2004 dodge intrepid with 113,000 miles for 4000$. I started doing my research. Consumerguideauto gives it a 62/100, which is pretty good (our pilot gets 65/100, and its a damn nice car). However, i started digging up info about a treacherous engine sludge problem with the 2.7L engine. I don't want to put my money on a bucket of bolts that will suck me and my parents dry. What do you recommend? I am really taken by this car, as it looks really nice, its spacious, has decent power. My other option is a 99 camry, white and peeling, 140,000 miles, 4 cylinder, but for free. Again, what do you recommend me doing? Thanks for your time!

 

Did check the engine size in the intrepid if it is 3.2 or 3.5 those are much better engines
