Default Codes and stalling

I am working on a friends 03 2.7L Intrepid and it has the following codes: P0340, P0344, and P1681. I know that the P0340 and P0344 are related to the cam position sensor but does anyone know what the P1681 code is? Her complaint was that the car would die and then restart just fine but now it is getting worse and it has to sit for a while before it will restart. She also said that it would run rough and sputter and the cruise would shut off. Any help would be great.

Thank you,
Will

Default Dtc p1681: No fuel level bus message

DTC P1681: NO FUEL LEVEL BUS MESSAGE

Monitored & Set Conditions
No fuel level bus message is monitored with ignition on. DTC will set if no fuel level BUS
messages received by the PCM for 20 seconds.

Possible Causes

 DTC Reset

 Communicate With BCM

 Fuel Level Bus Message

PCI Bus Circuit Open From PCM To BCM

 BCM

Testing

1. Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII(R) scan tool, erase DTCs. Start the engine on and
off several times. Leave the engine running for at least 20 seconds each time. With the
DRBIII(R) scan tool, read DTCs. Does the DTC reset? If yes, go to next step. If no, see

INTERMITTENT CONDITION

under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
2. Ignition on, engine not running. With the DRBIII(R) scan tool, attempt to communicate
with the BCM. Can communication be established with the BCM? If yes, go to next step.
If no, refer to the COMMUNICATIONS under SYSTEM TESTS in appropriate BODY
CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT perform the
appropriate symptom related to no communication with BCM.

3. Turn the ignition on. Using the DRBIII(R) scan tool, read the fuel level parameter in the
PCM. Does the DRBIII(R) scan tool display a fuel level value? If yes, replace and
program the PCM. See PROGRAMMING . If no, go to next step.

CAUTION: Do not probe the PCM harness connectors. Probing the PCM
harness connectors will damage the PCM terminals resulting
in poor terminal to pin connection. Install Miller Special Tool
(8815) to perform diagnosis.

4. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the PCM harness connectors. Disconnect the BCM
harness connector. Measure the resistance of the PCI bus circuit from the BCM harness
connector to the appropriate terminal of Miller Special Tool (8815). Is the resistance
below 5.0 ohms? If yes, replace BCM see appropriate REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
in BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If no,
repair the PCI Bus circuit between the PCM and the BCM for an open.
