Default Blown Head Gasket

Yep, my son Andrew's '04 Intrepid has a blown head gasket. I tried to search the forum for this topic but got nixed by the system, so apologies up front if this is something that has been discussed prior.
I'm hoping someone here can give me (actually, my mechanic) any tips/tricks to lessen the pain of this job? I understand that a special tool is required to remove the timing chain.
Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Unless your very mechanically inclined, I would leave that job (2.7 especially) to a professional that has experience with these engines. I have repaired several 2.7s that independant garages did major mechanical work on.

2.7 liter DOHC. What else? That's about all I know about it.
BTW- I'm not doing the work, my friend that's a very experienced mechanic is. He just wants to know if there's any tricks/pitfalls to the job. BTW- what is the chain on the OHC's called? Is it called a secondary timing chain? It's definitely timing related, just need to know how to look it up.
