Default Intrepid Police car

I am not sure about other parts of the country, but in the metro Atlanta area most police cars are Ford Crown Vic's. About a month ago I saw that the city of Kennesaw had a few Dodge Intrepids in their fleet. I spoke with one officer who said that they would be changing all the cars over to the Intrepid. Also, she said that next year, they would be coming with Hemi's in them.
I'm wondering if any anyone has heard of the Hemi Intrepid, or is this a special car for the police.

Well the Intrepid Police Package ran for three years from 2002-2004 model years. Currently there is no more production of the Intrepid (LH platform) because of the new rear-wheel drive platform named the LX... a.k.a 2005 Dodge Magnum and 2005 Chrysler 300 Series! The biggest motor to come in the Intrepid was the 3.5L HO V-6 that had 255 horsepower, which was the more in the Intrepid Police Package. However, the new 2005 Dodge Magnum RT (not R/T) will have the 5.7L HEMI V-8 rated at 340 horsepower and 390 ft-lbs of torque and a top speed of 153mph! There is no word about a police package yet, but I assume by 2007 we will see one.

2002-2004 Dodge Intrepid Police Package:

2005 Dodge Magnum HEMI RT:

2005 Chrysler 300C HEMI:

So her department will not have any Intrepids powered by a HEMI motor. Sorry!

I have seen a couple older Intrepids on the police force but most are Crown Vics and Caprice's. A HEMI police car would be awesome unless you were the one running. [sm=smiley2.gif]

As is said in the remake of Vanishing Point,"It takes a Mopar to catch a Mopar".[sm=smiley2.gif]

That was a horrible movie with a GREAT, LONG chase scene. If anyone out there has never seen the original "Gone In 60 Seconds", then go rent or buy it. Skip the first mind numbingly boring 45 minutes or so and just watch the final chase scene. The final chase scene was filmed uncut, some of the things that happen were not supose to , but they kept the cameras rolling. The chase, I believe lasts around 45 minutes or so and you'll never see a better one.[sm=smiley20.gif]

What cars chase each other? I havn't seen it but I thought the main car in the original Gone in 60 Seconds was a 1973 Mustang Mach 1.

Almost all of the Police Interceptors are 4-door Coronets and Furys. There is also quite a few Mopar in scenes... like when he jumped the accident in the middle of the road, one of the cars was a yellow 1970 Plymouth Cuda, they also stole a 1971 Dodge Challenger R/T which they totalled, as well as a green 1971 Dodge Charger... and many others...

I see, I'll rent that movie this weekend. Eleanor was a Mach 1 though, I thought Eleanor would be the main chase like the new movie but I guess not. I look forward to seeing the movie.

It is. Eleanor is in this and it is a Mustang. A good majority of the police and backround cars are Mopars. When he first steals Eleanor the owner chases him in his other car, a '71 Satellite Sebring. At one point you see a couple test driving a '71 Roadrunner as well.
