Default Hydraulic lifters frozen

after I pulled my engine apart, Ive found that ten of my hydraulic lifters are frozen. My question is are they supposed to be stuck in the up position or should they move up and down with the rest of them? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. they've been sitting for a year or two, and the thing is a 02 Intrepid 2.7L V6.

Matt

And if you have any questions for me, I have completely taken apart one of these engines which I hear are renown for head gasket failure. So if you have any questions regarding the internals just drop a line. I also know of a place where you can buy the 2.7L parts (mizumo autoparts)

Welcome to DF
Hi Matt
The lifters in most cases bleed down not freeze. If you were to put them back and start the engine, they should be okay.

I figured it out. Theres a check valve something rather at the bottom of the lash adjuster (lifter) that you got to poke with a paper clip in order to get them to compress again. Funny little things. Found this out looking through a ricer forum. And you may be right about just putting back in, I thought about that cause I think the oil pressure will also set the valve check button off too. but I went ahead and set them first.

Thanks. Nice picture Master Tech.
