Default Transmission not engaging when cold

Hi all,

Recently the transmission for my 2004 Intrepid ES 3.5 litre has not been engaging properly when starting in the morning. I can back out of the driveway but when I put it into drive it kicks out. I then need to wait a couple of minutes to do a restart and then there is no problem. I also find that if I warm up the car for at least several minutes this does not happen as much. This is not happening when the car has been used frequently throughout the day. Just on a cold start-up. Fluid level and color is fine.

Any suggetsions before I make the trip to the Dealership.

Appreciate it.

sounds like seal leakage when cold (common on low/reverse clutch seals). you could try a fluid and filter change. DONT go a dealer, there's no reason to have overpriced service for this. when it comes down to needing a rebuilt/new trans the Junkyards are full of these transmissions and selling them for CHEAP (under $200 for one with low miles)
