Exclamation 2002 intrepid wont stay running

2002 intrepid after it warms up it wont idle. You will come to a stop sign or stop light and as soon as you take your foot off the gas it stalls. Now you can put it back in park and it will start right back up but it idles rough. We replaced the IAC with no change. Any ideas?

It does idle smooth when you first start it before its warm

my 03 intrepid seems to be having a similar problem. after about 20 minutes of driving, the car started jerking (like some misfiring) the rpm is unstable. the car would stall when it comes to a halt but could easily restart when put into "P". sometimes, i would use my left leg for braking while keeping my right on the gas pedal to maintain a higher rpm.

any help appreciated.

I wonder if it's an EGR related issue or a vacuum leak??

Its an emissions system. Exhaust Gas Recirculation. It routs some of your exhaust back into the air intake to reburn unburned gas. It only should come on when the engine is warm and at higher toms. If it sticks, as the toms drop, the engine can stall due to a lack of O2.
