Question about Transmission Solenoid 02' 2.7 engine
Hey guys,
(I apologize if this is not in the right section of the forum)
I'm not the car kind of guy by any means, but I recently purchased an 2002 intrepid 2.7 V6 liter engine. I was told the Transmission Solenoid needs replaced because once reaching about 50 MPH on the highway it shifts into Overdrive OR "L" and will not come down to normal gear unless you pull over.. turn off the car.. and turn it back on..
He said that he's been doing that for a while to make sure he didn't tear up the transmission.
The part is roughly $185 at our local store. However. Does this sound like it could be this part? I've noticed these cars have been known to be built very poorly during this year because of Dodge's attempts to pass the governments emissions test.
My Second question is would the whole transmission need to be taken out or replaced? Or is it rather easy to get to and replace?
