2003 Water pump gear and Primary Chain
Hi,
I am in the process of replacing the 2002 2.7l w/o egr that my daughter ran out of oil. I purchased a replacement 2003 2.7l w/o egr from a salvage yard. It has 118,000 miles, so I thought that while it is out of the car, now is the time to replace the water pump.
Funny thing is that the timing chain and the water pump gear is different than the replacement pump I bought at NAPA. The chain is narrower, and the gear is different in its configuration.
If you look at the attached file, you can see the difference. I checked and cross-checked the engine to make sure that it was not new or older than what I was told by the salvage yard. Has anyone here run into this before?
