99 intrepid has new evaporator, still not cold
After having my 99 dodge checked for AC leaks, a new evaporator was installed.
However, after installation the AC was not cold like before, and needed to be rechecked. (Turning the temp. control dial up 4-5 notches from the max it went up 10-15 degrees).
Another evaporator was installed, the Calibration was redone, took it for another ride and the odometer ac check detected no unusual codes. Still with the same problem: Keep it on max w/the temp control at its coldest with the fan on high and recycle icon for coolest setting, but can't make adjustments, it'll feel like breath if you do. Never had any problems before evaporator installation. Just needed to find the leak (refilled freon before intallations and was freezing cold).
I live in Florida and understand letting the AC adjust when moving from the north. The heat doesn't bother me. Paying over 700 dollars and not having cold air does. [>:]
I've been living in FL over a year and moved down last June at the hottest time of the year. I've owned this Dodge for 4 years and never had to keep it on max temp (with the fan on high) all the time. Can't turn it down... even 4 notches...you'll start to get warm. I'm planning on taking the car to an authorized Dodge mechanic to rule out any new leaks. In the meantime, any suggestions? Feedback? [

whoever installed new evap may have damaged blend door causing door for cool air to also draw in heat from heater core. some mechanics just don't care they can hack something up and not care because it is not there car i no it ain't right definitly not right when you spend that much money you would want it to be right. but i have seen numerous of these cars with this problem. you can get this checked without removing the dash. need to no how let me no.
