switch engines, or rebuild, a 99 2.7
kids car is knocking, doing a stethoscope test tonight to see where that watch is tick tick tick, LOL, but I'm thinking its the bottom end, she noticed it a month ago, when I heard it then, was just a tick, weard think is somedays it wouldn't do it, but its happening more often and getting louder, 143,000 there abouts, used castrol every 2,000 -n 2,500, with mopar filter, havent done anything other than a fuel pump, TWICE, Thanks napa's for selling me a defective pump,
. Car gets driven to school, work, trips are less than 5 miles.
So do I overhaul, get a different engine, if so what engines will fit the beast.
Overhaul kits are spendy, and then theres the machine work if needed too,
My first complete overhaul, a 283 chevy. $320 back in 1980.
if you have overhauled a 2.7 what did it end up costing, thanks Dean,

got the motor out, spun a rod bearing. can someone recommend a web site to just remove the crank, my Haynes manuel just shows how to do a complete teardown, I want to leave the heads and not mess with the timing as much as posible. thanks,
I would ditch the problematic 2.7 an swap in a 3.2 or 3.5 HO engine..You will gain power an reliability..I personally have never dont the swap, but have helped on a few..An can find some info for you if your interested...
