1998 Dodge Intrepid 3.2 L P0700 code
Hi all,
My Intrepid is giving me a p0700 code. I have read alot of the threads on here and I kind of understand what the general problem is. My car will not shift into 2nd gear. I can get the rpms up to almost 5000 rpms and get it up to about 45 mph, but I didn't want to push it anymore. I have a check engine light on, my speedometer still works fine. Some of the threads on here said that their speedometer did not work, so they thought the culprit to be the output speed sensor. My speedo still works, so I think the output speed sensor still works on my car. I do not believe it is in limp in mode because I can still give it gas and the rpms will still climb. Where should I start troubleshooting? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !!!

You need an enhanced scanner to scan for more trans codes. P0700 just means you got more trans problem.
Which means, you probably have to go to a shop. If you want to buy one urself, these scanners are at least $500.
some trans shop will try to sell u a rebuild even tho you might not need one. So beware of Rip-off. Most common failure in these trans are usually either a sensor like you mentioned or solenoids in the Valve body. But there is no way to tell unless you scan the Trans module for codes, and run a full diagnostic according to the code.
Not trying to be a dick, But I don't think you should try tackle a Trans problem on your own.
