Default Timing issue

I just bought an 01 intrepid 3.5.i got it cheap cause it’s not running.initially I thought it would be an easy fix since it had a camshaft sensor code. The new sensor did not fix the no start condition. Upon pulling the timing cover I found the tensioner broken off,the belt was loose but I damaged. How do I get the cams to line up with the pointers? Do I simply just line the pointers up and put everything back together,I do not know the position of the valves
