Default Intrepid Heater Resistor

I have replaced my heater resistor 3 times within the last 12 months. The lower speeds of my fan would cancel out and only leave me with HIGH fan speed. Replacing the resistor, fixes it for anywhere from 4 weeks to 8 months. This last time was 4 weeks. What else could be causing the resistor to go? Could it be the blower motor itself?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Todd

YES...pull out the blower motor, check for binding that may cause a high resistance.

Tried it and there is apparantly no binding in the motor. The voltage to the resistor is good. What else could it be? Could it be a short or a ground? If it's any connection, I also have issues with my power door lock actuator (another electrical component).

Any help would be appreciated.

Is your door lock making an annoying sound when you lock it? If so it's a bad actuator. The limiter that pulls it down has been worn out and the magnetic selanoid making the sound. But hearter reisitor sounds like you have a short some where or water syndrom. Hopefully you've been taking the bad part back cuz they should have a warrenty with it.
