Wheels wont come off?
2002 Intrepid ES with 16" Chrome rims...
Removed all 4 lug nuts, and the 1 lock nut, making 5... And no matter what, cannot get the damn wheels off... Trying to do the front brakes, have the vehicle jacked up... Looks like there might be some kind of locking mechanism behind the wheel, on the stems for the lug nuts? Anyone have any experience?

Well, with all 5 nuts off, we dropped the car off the jack, and drove it up and down the driveway with no nuts... And it's still on there tight as ever... Nothing we do can get these damn front wheels off...
Interesting. I was working on a GMC Savanna 3500 (8 lugs!) and was having the same problem. I could have kicked the tire all day, and it wouldn't come off. I jacked the truck up, and dropped it a few times at differant heights (lowering the jack really fast. I kept all the lugs on there, but a few threads away from the rim). After a few go-nowhere attempts (and me getting unhappy) I jacked it up a little more (I don't know how high) and dropped it, and it finally came loose.
Just drop the car from slightly higher heights, it will have to come off at some point.

Gotta hate those road welded wheels, Happened to my sisters Srat and it took me an hour in the rain to finally kick it off i had no other choice it was a flat on the side of the road no jack dropping for me. but as they said lower it enough so that the tire is basically on the ground thaen turn it back and forth a lil lift it back up then kick it going from the top to the bottom to the left side than to the right.

Here's what I did: loosen the lug nuts so that there is 1/4" of slack. Back the car up and drive SLOWLY down your street. If they don't release THEN, do some hard turns left and right. After about 6 hard pulls left and right, mine broke loose. Then drive REALLY slowly back to where you can jack it back up (don't want to booger up the studs).
Take the wheels off and sand the inside of the mating surface (maybe you'll need a file) as well as the mating surface of the hub. Then, apply some anti-sieze compound. CATERPILLAR # 4C-5598 is a great choice. Mine haven't siezed since (55K miles).
