Front brakes squeak
Did you try and turn the disks? Or better yet, replace them (when I did my brake job about 2 months ago, new disks were $15 and it usually costs $10 to turn them so I bought the new ones).
I replaced the Rotors and it still was squeeling. I ask a mechanic friend of mine and he suggested new Anti-rattle clips, or retractor clips. This helped somewhat. It still make a scraping or squeeling sound. possibly the Caliper assembly?
Inside of each front rotor is a cruddeflector madeof a thin metal. In time, the deflectors can bend in towards the rotors to make the noises you describe. Been there, cursed that.
You can easily bend the deflectors a bit away from the rotors to eliminate the problem. Something like 1/4 inch should do.

The noise I thought was coming from the brakes, is coming from the front wheel drive assembly. The noise is relative to how fast the car is traveling. So whether the brakes were applied or not, the sqealing was still present. It comes and goes as well. Sometimes its louder than the day before. Sometimes there is no noise at all. So, this will go on until I get time to look at it in detail. Thanks for the help.
hexbolt,
I went through everything you describe and the problem was nothing more than the spacing of the deflectors so I hope you've checked that.
The noise problem began after replacing the pads and rotors. The mechanic who did the job did it over at no charge. He didn't see the problem was with the deflectors. With the redoing of the pads/rotors, the noise went away for a time but then returned. I jacked up the car and rotated the wheels and never saw the problem. It may be that you will never see the problem with the car lifted.
It may be that your problem is other than this simplest-of-all-possible-fixes deflector problem but I can't see why you wouldn't take a screwdriver and bend out the deflectors to about 1/4" to find out. It's that easy so I hope you've done this.
