Default Fuel Problem?

I am having trouble with a 99 Intrepid with a 2.7. It was freshly rebuild and it is missing on the left bank since we rebuildt it. It was not running when we bought it so we do not know what problems it may have had prior. On a scanner it seems the fuel trim readings are wacky. What should they be? One bank read constant -25 and the other fluctuated around the -20 reading. At one point we had the intake off and the injectors pulled up still in the fuel rail and believe it or not the engine ran. It looked like all of the injector were firing. At this point I do not know what to look for because there are no fault codes. Any suggestions?

Default Where I would start.

Regarding panama63's thread "Fuel Problem?"

Is the entire left side not firing or one cylinder?

I would check compression on all cylinders first to compare. If compression on that side is down (or absent) you need to check your timing chains for correct install.

If just one cylinder that has low compression, I would pressurize that cylinder to see where compression is leaking out. If it is a compression problem to one cylinder, you will hear air escaping the exhaust pipe, intake manifold, or vallve cover/oil fill. Indicating exhaust valve, intake valve, or rings/piston/cylinder wall issue respectivly.

You say it's getting fuel, check for spark also.

Seems I've seen codes for a tooth off on other cars, not sure about these.

That's what I'm thinking off the top of my head, let us know how it comes out.

It's pretty easy, just remove the tabs in the wheel well that attatch to the bumper and then the tabs under the hood that hold the bumer to the front. After removing the wheel well tabs and the one recessed screw (it's in the corner of the wheel well) you reach your hand behind the bumper and give it a nice tap (do this to both sides) and it should just fall off assuming you removed all the tabs.

Caution: I advise that you remove the tabs under the hood last otherwise you run the risk of the bumper just falling on the ground and getting all scratched up. Unless of course you are throwing the bumper away but still do those last or it could make it hard to take off and become very cumbersome.

Go to autozone.com and enter car data. Then search for flasher...it will give you info and pictures for simple jobs like this.
