Hi everyone
When i stop at the red light my engine rpm goes down to 550.Feels like the engine going to stop.Already changed the idle air control valve but it did not help.Does the same.Does anyone know what is wrong? One more thing. After a few minutes driving the engine fan start running, because the engine is getting really hot.I can see it on the gauge. It feels like i lost 100 horsepower too.Help please.

Have you been changing your oil regulary? The 2.7 engine will build up sludge and starve your engine of oil. That could cause excess heat, loss of power, and the engine wanting to die.

Any other indicators (ie engine codes, lights, oil pressure)? BTW what do you mean "stop at a red light"? Are you saying after it has run 5 min, 1 hour ect (I don't know how long it takes to get to the red light you are refering to). Will it malfunction when you start it or only after a while? How long till it malfunctions? Is it only after the engine overheats? Please post a more detailed discription of what is going on, with your discription, I'm only guessing what could be wrong.

I am sorry i did not give you any detailes. It usually takes like 5 min to get to the first traffic light. When i start the engine everything seems fine.It will malfunction aftera while.Every time i stop and i keep the transmission in D, the rpm dropps to 550.If i switch it to P,the rpm goes back to normal 750.After a few minutes driving the engine cooling fan start running,so the engine never overheats. It is runnig for 5 min, then shuts off for 2 min, then running for 5......etc and i do not use air condition.

The O2 sensor voltage low can be a bit problematic, especially if you are having other problems. What I mean is, it can compound a problem of a poor running engine until it has an effect. The O2 sensor is used in timing, and emissions, both of which can cause a poor running engine.

You keep saying the engine is running hot, how hot? Is this by the temp gauge only? Did this symptom first start when the engine stall was occurring? What I am trying to figure out is what is related or if any of these symptoms are not related. Will the temp fluctuate i.e. get hot, then when the fan comes on, get cool?

From what I understand of your problem, it sounds like under load the engine want’s to stall. Is that correct? After you restart, will it be ok for a while again or will it stall (or have a low RPM) right away? Also as I asked before, is the engine temp high the first time it wants to stall?

I think we talking about 2 different problem. The engine is runnning hot,too hot. When thefan comes on,the engine gets cool.I mean a bit cooler. The fanis runnig for 5 min, then shuts off for 2 min, then running for 5 min ..........This is one problem. The other problem is the low rpm and the engine is stalling under load. When i amwaiting at the traffic lights i have to switch the transmission to N or P otherwise the engine want to stall.Even if i restart it does not help.

The stall condition may be the idle air motor. It's function is to prevent a stall when the load or RPM shift by a signifigant amount. I'm not exactly sure where it is located on a 2.7 engine but check out the "holy Grail" post at the top of the 2'nd gen fourm.

Is the idle air control valve the same as the idle air motor?Because i alreadychanged the idle air control valve a month ago and it did not help.
