Ok this is a long story so hopefully i keep you interested enough to read the whole post. Okay so every once in a while my car decides not to start. I just had a new starter relay switch put in. Just the swithc not the actual starter. So i turn the key and it sounds like its trying to start. Sometimes i turn the car on and it goes on right away and other times it will not start. Like i said it sounds like its trying to but it doesnt. Sometimes i can go for 1 month with no problems then all of a sudden it wont start. After a while of turning the key it will start but that is after about 50 times of trying. I know its not the battery because i just installed a new one 2 months ago. Im getting really sick of my car haha can someone pls help. Every time i take it to the mechanic it starts up fine for them and thats what i hate. Okay pls help me i would really appreciate it.

 

turn the key to on for a few seconds and you will hear the fuel pump start up then when it is done (you will know when) after about 3 sec then try and start. see if that helps

05 Neon, I've taken it to 2 dealers, a total of 4 times and NO ONE can figure it out because it works perfectly for the mechanics. I am beyond frustrated. If your mechanic ever DOES figure it out, PLEASE let me know so I can ask mine to try the same thing.

 

Thats what my car was doing last fall. It would start normally and at times make almost a grinding noise. If I turned the key to the off position and tried again it would always start. Sometimes it would take several tries though. I ended up replacing the starter and that did the trick. Been starting perfectly ever since.

 

ok, maybe im dumb or tired, but is the car actually turning over (or at least trying to turn over) its possibly the starter, or could be a problem with fuel getting there. as stated above, listen for th efuel pump, check the relays for the fuel pump. if its cranking but just wont turn over and start up, it may be lack of fuel. if its gettin the fuel, than its either starter or lack of spark (plugs, wires, etc on up the line)

 

Possibly the Starter solenoid is going bad and definately check the stuff flaming said
