Default Cheapish setup with good quality

What is a nice setup for sound that i could get for not much money in my neon? I would like to keep my stock head unit, as it looks nice as it is, and has a nice 4 disc changer...etc...But would like new speakers, or atleast subs & prob. and amp. The car was bought used a year ago, and the people from before had replaced the stock speakers with alpine speakers that appear to be the same size, i think just the door and trear ones were replaced. There not bad, but I would like something better, not big bass thumping, get youreself a ticket kind of sound, but a little more bass and more clarity/quality. and im sort of on a budget, more of a spread over time budget. Thanks!

add 2 extra 6x9 in the trunk in place of subs. you will have a good amount of base, while retaining sound quality. all you need is the speakers, amp (4 channel), line output converter, speaker boxes, and some wire. mine sounds great and it wasnt too expensive

if you just want a sub check out the MTX thunderform series its a sub and amp in one. and it fits behind the left rear tire so it doesnt take up space. and it hooks up through an exsisting speaker wire.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll go with Mikes Setup. Mike, What brand speakers, amp, and line output converter would you recomend, and any links to a site for them would be great. Also, if there are any good tutorials out there, if you have links that would be cool, Thanks!

...P.S.
Got any pics of the seats Ed?
