you should only lose power and acceleration if the total combined weight of the wheel and tire are more than stock weight, and that is probable when going to 17s. To avoid that you need to buy "lightweight" wheels, but they will cost considerably more than an average priced 17 wheel. Tirerack.com tells you which wheels for your application are considered lightweight.

yea you will need a rim to be 13 lbs to be the weight of stock, which you will not find cheap. but 17lbs is ok too...i guess

My rims are 17lbs...and I can tell you that I do not notice a difference at all between stock and 17s. At least a noticeable difference. But I believe you would want to go with smaller rims if you are interested in going real fast. Less mass to get rotating or something. Hey mike...I thought the stock rims were somewhere in the neighborhood of 15-17lbs? And quite honestly my winter wheels feel heavier then my summer wheels (17s). Maybe its because I have some serious meat on the wheels? I have been to the track with them as well...I believe I yanked a best time with them of 16.1 @ 88mph, I was smoking my tires off the line . My stock wheels I yanked a best time of 16.05@86? I'll see what I can do this summer with possible some good meat on my rims. Go R/T hunting.

yea but in my opinion, i heard the magniflow on a friend of mines' neon and it sounded like garbage... i got the Vibrant dual exhaust from Modernperformance.com and it sounds realllllllllly nice! its quiet when im just cruising but when i get on it! oh man it sounds better than a 1969 Yenko Camaro..... well not really as good but its pretty darn nice! and cheap too

Probably closer to 40lb for stock wheel/tire weight...probably more. Your average tire alone weighs in at 20lb or so...

I have a custom dual exhaust system with a magnaflow rear section, connected to a 12" cherry bomb and it has come out sounding pretty deep~
