It slices, it dices, IT MAKES YOUR LEGS FALL OFF!!! Thats right folks!! Someone told me, and I quote, "the reason they discontinued the Neon was because of its front firewall during accidents. During a bad head on collision, the firewall goes into the driver cabin and pretty much dismembers your legs, or messes them up pretty good. Yeah, thats a first on me and I couldnt find anything about it here (maybe my searching suxorz) but i wanted to share this with you all!! Anyone have a clue about what he is talking about? Will my "Ruby" (my neon's name) chop my legs off someday?!

From what I remember looking up the front end crash stuff was OK but the side impact SUCKED???

The quit selling the NEON cause sales kept falling and they wanted to make a change, hence the Caliber.

 

I looked up all the stats when I was looking to buy my Neon, i think the front impact was pretty good for a sport compact, it was the side impact that recieved a "Marginal to Good" rating...which is why side air bags were introduced as an available option which bumped the side rating a bit. But even a "Marginal" rating is good, since they wouldnt let any cars on the road produced in such mass quanitites if you could really be dismembered during a normal crash or killed in every side impact. The United States does have the highest crash test standards in the world...

Dont even get me started on the Caliber lol...what a joke.

 

i think that myth was in the first gen neons i saw video of crash testing and it look like the firewall enters the cabin i have to find it

well all i have to say is take any compact car and put it in a headon, 95% or them will do the same thing........if i did loose my legs, i would still buy another neon, and make it a padal shift[8D]
