Fram TRT filter
Well Installed a Fram TRT High Mileage oil filter on my 01 neon with 180,000 kilometers ( I know never a Fram on a Dodge). When I started the car it had a little tap in the motor and a few seconds it was gone. A couple of hours later I started the car again, this time the motor tapped a bit before it quiet down.
This morning I started the car and it sounded like a bag of hammers [sm=happybounce.gif]and quiet down in 30 to 45 seconds.
Tonight I whipped that piece of crap from the motor and install a QuakerState filter, what a difference. I learned my lesson.

QS filter is a Fram too last I saw. Might have gone to Purolator though.
Get a PureOne, Mobil1, or Amsoil EaO series filter if you want the best. That was in order of price and quality.

QS is a Purolator. This was a TRT filter it's different than the ones your talking about.
Back in the days of turbo k-type cars, if chrsyler saw a fram on the turbo they could and did void engine warranties becauce they are not a a full flow filter.
Next time look inside a standard fram and any other non fram filter--see the difference.
The bloody Costco here were using Purolator filters and changed to fram. Consumers would not get there oil changed here anymore, so after 6 months they went to a purolator or wix produced oil filter.

K&N filter, love the 1"wrench/socket nut welded on the end. the way the i/c piping on the srt runs its a real fight to get a filter wrench on, so a regular wrench works out much better.
but never had any issues at allwith the fram filters

Way back in the day when I was a youngin' driving my '74 RoadRunner, I used a Fram once. And once only. The engine started that dreadful tapping at startup. And like others said, it went away after a few seconds. But with the Mopar orNAPAfilters I used before that it never happened at all. That was the last time I ever used a Fram. Especially when I cut it open and saw how it was made. I switched back to NAPA filters after that.
But now to the present. Before we bought our Neon we've had a '94 Tempo. Still have the car and it runs great. 178k on it and we took it to Myrtle Beach again last month. We've driven that Tempo everywhere from Myrtle to Maine and all over Ohio. I've used nothing but PureOne filters and either Mobil 1 synthetic, or more recently the new Pennzoil Platinum. I'm a firm believer in the benifits of synthetic oils over dino oils. Some may not believe me but I use what works for me.
