Need Ideas For Improvements
I own a '05 Sxt neon, i need low budget ideas to improve performance. I have AEM Cold air intakes on the way and everything else i can find to improve my car seems too expensive. Any Ideas, tips, or tricks out there?
well you already messed up you shouldve gotten a cheap ebay intake and a k&n filter lol...BUT to help you, the exhaust on our cars is pretty open and not restrictive...so if i were you I would NOT start with the exhaust...I would go ahead and get a Underdrive Pulley..the Prothane motor mount inserts are a nice buy for $36..and you can get an awesome STS from maddog for $160....modernperformance.com is a great place for part searching...i usually go there and see what I want and then go to ebay for it..
First of all...what kind of performance do you want to improve? Handling performance? Acceleration performance? Braking Performance? Transmission performance?
yes, 03neon has the right question lol. I would have went straight to saying what kapitald said lol. But since you already have the AEM intake enjoy it. It is one of the best for neons. I have one
. It looks pretty too :P

I'm assuming that you're talking about performance out of the engine since u listed an AEM intake. Hp = $$$$.
I agree with everyone else. If you're on a low budget, the AEM was not a good start b/c is not cheap. It's one of the best intakes out though. I like mine. Other than that, the next step u can do is upgrade the exhaust.
Upgrading the throttle body would come later down the line but I believe u could take one off one of the Jeeps. I'm sure someone else on here can remember which exact vehichle it is. U could always consider a weight reduction too.

Actually it is an off-ebay cold air kit, im just putting a AEM filter on it. But the main goal is the 1/4 mile time, i want off the line speed.

definately get a UDP of some kind then....or you can take your power steering pump and air conditioner out...that will give you some horsepower gains and be relatively cheap...take your spare tire and jack out for UNextreme lightening...get a port and polished intake manifold and 60mm TB to go along with your new exhaust...that should give you a good start...then after all that I would get a Comp400 cam
