Default rev limit

I know that the Neon sxt has a rev limiter, but are the rpm's limited to about 4k in neutral? Everytime I rev it in neutral is gets to 4k and then sounds bad and won't push on...

That is there to save your transmission. ATX transmissions are not made to rev that high without a load on them. I would not suggest hitting that limiter anymore. Its not safe and its not "cool".

I know it is there to save the transmission and I have only hit the limiter two or three times over the 13 months that I have had the car. I hit it once the other day, and once back in winter that I remember. The time in winter was cause it was taking forever for the heat to kick in so I figured I would rev the engine to build some heat
