TIRE SIZE
Please help!!! I'm looking for info on tire size for my '02 neon es stock tires are 185/60r15 i just got a killer deal on 4 205/50r15 dunlops. Would like to put these on but not sure if they are too wide diamater measures the same but about 1-3/4"-2" wider has anyone tried thie size? will they fit? do i need shims between hub&rim? any info would be great if they are too big i'll look for something different. like i said i got a killer deal on these so i didn't pass on them they were only used 3 months so like new still have the little **** on them
they should fit.its usually possible to go up about 2 sizes (185-205) with tires like that. they will look lower profile than the stock tires which is what im guessing youre going for but they may look a little wider or bulky on the rims. anyway, they should fit. if its a good deal might as well take 'em and have them mounted and see if it works out. if not, you can always turn around and sell them again
thanx for the reply i'm going to get a buddy of mine that has access to a tire machine to mount 1 & test fit. my main concern is strut clearance it does look like it will be ok just eyeballing it. if they doen't fit like you said i can resell them & get my $$$ + + + back like i said it was a great deal i couldn't pass up. it might be a week or two before i get to try them but i'll let you know how it goes thx again dodgefreak1
they may baloon a little bit. i ran 195s with no problem at all on the 14" steelies. i think the 15" rims are actuall .5" wider??? so i dont think that 205s on the sxt rims would be any issue
Thanks to all that replied to my ????. I finally got the rims refinished so i could put these tires on to try. They were a real b*#ch to seat the beads but they fit & look good so all is well now. I have no clearance issues at all with these tires. My next big chnge to the car might be springs to help close the gap between tire & fender it's not too bad but could stand to go at least an inch closer to the ground [some day] again thanks for the feedback good bunch of people on this site.dodgefreak
but but with 205's and stock struts u should have ur alignment done every oil change

Well, you can check your alignment every oil change. But if you actually have to re-do your alignment every oil change, then holy momma that would get expensive over time. Not to mention the fact that something would be really wrong with your car if that was the case (or the driver likes running over speed bumps or curbs at highway speed every few thousand miles). I say just do the alignment before the fresh rubber goes on, then rotate them as usual thereafter and burn them suckers up like usual.
