To People With Clear 3rd Brake Light:
Ok, i have the clear 3rd brake light so of course i had to find a red bulb for it. I went the Pep Boys and Advance Auto parts and O'Reilly Autoparts around here and i was not able to find any red 921 or equivilant bulbs. So i went on ebay and found 1 (actually came as a pair) and they arrived today and i installed it to only find it was a wierd shade of red. diffrent from the two corner lenses. it's an almost purplish shade of red.
anyone with a clear third brake light wanna reccommend a good brand of bulb and where i can buy it that will give me a red closer to that of the corner lenses? or maybe someway i can darken this bulb to the right shade?
If not i'd rather have no bulb in it and just roll with the two corner lenses than have 2 red lights and 1 purplish-red light.
U might not be able to tell in the pics but it is definitely more noticiable than what is in the pics:

try APC brand...I have that in mine--it seems to look the same.. I have a clear led that shines red. The only thing is, it's going to always look a lil diff b/c of the clear lens. you know what i mean? It doesn't have that dark red lens that's going to change it a little bit, if you want that same red, put your old red 3rd lens in there.
i think im gunna go with the led lights that shine red. compared to a bulb, i think that 7 leds in one bulb will hold out better. I got the bulbs for mine with the clear chmsl off ebay from a guy that got it from modern. u can find a link to the site in 05's "All neon bulbs page"
Just make sure they have a resistor in there or add one yourself if they're LED's... that way they won't burn out prematurely, should last forever that way. Some of the cheapo LED bulb kits don't come packaged with extra line resistance. Make sure to ask.
I got one of those size led from autolumination.com and it works great so far
