Default spray painting shade matching

Hey guys, had anyone ever tried spray painting a small section of their car? When I remove my door trim the paint under it were starting to bubble. So my question is if I get a paint that matches exactly to my car would it still match since my car's an 04? I'm worried that I'll not get a good match becase of paint fade. Or would they blend together after a few week under the sun? Oh yeah, I'm not thinking about painting the whole door though, just probably a small area around the area where the door trim used to be. Thanks!

When you say "bubble" do you mean like seperated from the door like it would peel off? or does it just look a little different? If it is not actualy seperated you might try wet sanding it and buffing it out.

Yeah, like it's a lump from the surface of the door... like if i just scratch it gently then a small piece of paint just comes off... I was thinking about sanding it down and then respray it but i'm afraid of the shade difference that it's going to make...

id def say try sanding it down and spraying it. i think that if your car was darker, ther would be more of a risk. see what someone else would say though.lol

I have the same color you got, bright silver metallic '04 SXT... and I've had to use the rattle can on it before. You can get it to match if you use the Duplicolor stuff, but make sure its smoother than heck, and clean clean clean. Don't mask off existing paint areas either... just spray it and let it dry and see how it looks... in some areas of my car, I was able to do this and blend it. In other areas, I had to go back over it with clearcoat to get it to match better... the trouble with the clearcoat-in-a-can is though that if you do clearcoat you have to do almost the whole panel to keep it smooth and shiny... clearcoat "overspray"looks worse than just plain silver overspray on our cars.

I'm in the same situation as you. I took off that door blocker plastic thingy and it ****ed up my paint job. Now there are spots everywhere of little missing paint. Apparently my car used to be aqua. jk.

I'm afraid to touch up. I'm just going to save up for a whole new paint job. My front bumper, fenders, doors, rear bumper, spoiler and hood are all different shades of yellow. [&:]
