Except the overall diameter of the two types are going to be almost the same because of the decrease in the sidewall width. On my R/T wheels they have an overall diameeter of 23.7", while the new 17" wheels have an overall diameter of 23.5". So the portion of the weight is going to remain similar comared to stock assuming you reduce the sidewall as you increase the width and diameter of the wheel.
