Neon Starting Problem
I have a 2002 Neon.
When I turn on the Car, the gauges go crazy. All the guauges go all the way to max, then the middle then back to where it should be.
When I try and start the car I get the rattling noise. Sometimes it actually starts, when it does it runs no problem until I shut it off.
When I check the voltage, it reads 12.5
I get a check engine light but nothing else.
What's the problem?

Well the gauges going like that sounds like the onboard cluster diagnostic...but it shouldnt be doing it on its own. As for voltage at idle you should be around 14.2-14.3...

what codes do you have. turn the key on/off/on/off/on, and there should be a set of codes on the odometer and then it will say done. get those codes, and then well go from there. ( dont start the car when you are checking for codes)
