Default straight through exhaust

if i run a straight through exhaust, just eliminate the cat all together, will it be too loud? will eliminating the cat all together add some horses or just cause more noise? thinking about doing it but not getting a header. thanks

If you were going to eliminate the cat, you wouldnt gain any power unless it was by installing an LTH...and yes, it would be much lounder and very raspy.

I'm assuming you have a stock on right now correct? Making a straight pipe is going to make your car lounder and losing the cat will not increase HP. I'm not sure in your state but where I live your not going to pass an inspection taking the cat off. You may want to consider this especially since it's not going to do anything for horses.

it will sound like 100% butt and it will hurt the car, trust me. keep the cat on and get a nice catback. anything more and you will lose hp rather than gain it

... and as already mentioned, if you do all of that you will not believe how freakin loud your car will be. It will sound like a chainsaw on crack basically. I tried the same thing one time, for a whole 20 seconds. I shut the motor down and bolted everything back up because I was afraid that every cop within 5 miles probably heard me start the damn thing.

deals with turbo and n/a cars, nice little read on back pressure:

you probably wouldnt see any kind of performance gains, just a loud as *** exhaust (not nice sounding, just loud)
