Engine Knocks!!! Is this serious???
Ok, here is the deal. I have an '05 SXT (ATX) with 25K miles and recently I noticed that when the car is either in neutral or park and I rev the engine (just by holding like two or three seconds) to at least 4000 RPM it will gently throttle down as usual but at the end somewhere around 2500 to 1500 RPM I hear a distinct muffled knock comming from the engine. It will be significant at first but then muffle out as the RPMS drop. I really dont know ecxacly where the knock is comming from but I am beginning to worry. Could it be timing belt that got streched or is the timing wrong? I have never come across anything like this. I do floor it now and then and accelerate hard at times. But so far I havent had any problems with the car... Could anyone give me a heads up on what it might be. I am affraid something bad is comming my way if I dont listen to the knock.
Any help is kindly appreciated. Thank You ahead of time. [&:]

check engine light? loss of power? Oil in it? There are many things that it could be but if there is now check engine light the code reader has nothing to read and if the light isnt on then it could be nothing or it could be something. the best thing to do is take it to you dealers mechanic and have them give a listen!
Well I dont know about the other stuff but, I do know since your (atx) you shouldnt rev your car like that while parked or in neutral. Atleast thats what I am to belive.
The check engine light is not on. I remember when the car had like 4K on the engine light flickered once, but it never came on steady. It does this after a drive it. In the morning on a cold start it knocks like i described above, but it goes away. I read it was because of the lifters or something. But anyway, I dont always rev it like that either. I did not have any power loss or any trouble with it. I have no clue, but i guess i can take it to the dealership. It still has 5k miles on the warranty so hopefully it would cover it.
