Hi guys/gals

I drive a 2003 dodge neon.. and I love this thing..

I continue to get p0440 codes on my engine

so with a little research I found that this code is for

P0440 (M) Evaporative Emission Control System Malfunction General evap. emission system code

so at first I cleared it.. did the whole disconnect negative terminal. and wait

this cleared the code for about 4 weeks.. then it came back

I went and replaced the gas cap.. same one from the dealership..

clear the code again..

now I get it again..

now.. I have read that you have to check the hoses.. but which hoses..

I am a little car illiterate.. I can do minor things. ie change oil.. just the basic stuff.. so I don't know a lot about cars

and It says to check hoses.. Holy ****.. there are tons of hoses.. which are part of the evac system..

Please please please.. help a guy out.. I realy don't want them to take it to the dealership again.. ..

 

i pulled that code in my 03 once... my problem was a hose under the car by the tank. There are some hoses by where the pump goes in. I forgot to put one back on when i put my walbro in.

may or may not solve your problem
