Hood Question!!! Is this safe??
I have online in several places that you can remove the bottom lining of the Hood. You know the black cover underneath the hood. Anyway I want to remove it, because all I read it is for is to keep the noise down, however it tends to trap a lot of heat. I live in the deep in the south so i thought I could help the engine compartment cooler if it will make a differrence. BUT HERE is the real question, I read that if you were to remove that, the heat from the engine can damage your paint/clearcoat. What do ya'll think? Anyone out there riding with the thing off??
Thanks a bunch!

i heard the the hood will cook the paint and therefore bubble the clear coat and ruin the paint job... im sure the liner is not limiting the potential of the car.....does a carbon fiber hood have such a liner im not sure?
Ive had mine off before my accident for a yr and never hurt my paint job and yeah you can hear the engine . My sxt is a mild show ride so the liner was so ugly and I put my sponsor decals where the liner use to be .
Hey Wolf, how can you make look nice when open up your hood? like the underside? Dont they have like sheets of stuff that they can put on the underside of it?

it will not benefit at all, no louder, no cooler, or anything. it will however make your paint bubble after a while with it. not right away. but if you plan on having your car for a while, it will happen
When I got my new hood after the accident it came without the liner also so if the dealership gave me a new hood without it on than its ok . Plus the liner is plain ugly for shows . Most tuner rides at shows are running without a liner also.
