I was considering moving my battery into the trunk. Has anyone done that here? And would there be any bad effects from doing it?

 

Any reason why you would wanna do this?

 

Would change the weight distribution. You'd have to make sure to ground it properly in the trunk too. Also costs more for the wiring. I think they usually use 0 or 00 guage wire for that. Usually about $50 for a relocation kid.

Usually with race cars they move it into the back for better traction, but that's usually for RWD cars.

I wanted to do this to free up some space in the engine compartment. But it looks like a PITA and I would have no idea where to start.

 

Doesnt seem that hard to me.....just make a mounting bracket in the trunk so it doesnt slide around....and just like wiring for a speaker system you can run the positive wire to the front by drilling a hole in the firewall and putting a grommet there.....then once the wire is put through the firewall just attach it to your starter wire....you can ground the battery to the trunk latch...unbolt the bolts holding the trunk latch in place (make sure u align them right when putting them back on or the trunk wont shut properly)...take the trunk latch off and sand the paint off the chasis...dont worry nobody can see it lol....then run your ground wire there and bolt the latch back down on top of it holding it in place....i would think 2 or 4 gauge wire would suffice fine....get a big audio system and you might want a larger wire...seems simple to me....
