I just test drove a 2003 Neon, and when I started it up, I noticed it had slight vibration at idle. Is this normal for Neons? Maybe it is normal for small cars, but my 02 Sport Trac doesn't have this at all. I'd love to hear your input!

 

Mine vibrates. I think its just a matter of how dodge mounted the motor. As far as my knowledge go its nothing bad at all.

 

did it ever smooth out???? some cars need to warm up first and then the idle smooths out....you said it had 75K on it so it might need plugs and wires or a oil change for all we know....

just sitting there idling will also cause the fan to kick on and you might feel more vibration from that...

is it an automatic or manual???

 

mine slightly vibrates i can really tell when my passenger has the dadgummin mirror/shade thing down cause i watch it vibrate

hmm....i got a 04...i dont think mine vibrates all that much...but i probly never noticed....i got motor mount inserts too....

 

you have to think. it's a I-4 and the engine isn't as balanced as say.. a V-6 or 8. you're going to have a slight vibration. but new motor mounts will help with that if you need them, and you probably do if you haven't had them replaced since you got the car.

 

It probably has torn motor mounts....takes about 30 minutes to fix. The part can be had for about 30 bucks
