Default Neon RT air con

Hi , iv`e found when my Neon is engine is ticking over , every 10 seconds the A/C compressor kicks in and the cooling fan comes on for 3 secs, then 10 secs later it does it again, this is with the interior switch in the car on normal air not the A/C bit. Is this normal on Neons? Does anyone elses car do this?

Mine for some reason when I drive at like 70 MPH and have the air on, I can see my RMP's jump like 25 rpms and stop for about 15 secs then do it again.

Yea at 75 MPH I'm running at 3,000 RPM's...I'm an automatic. Wish there was a way to get those RPM's down.

I just sold a `97 mustang V6, 2000rpm at 80mph . Neon R/T revs at 3500 at 80mph[&:] Just takes a while to get used to the fact it sounds like it`s about to self destruct.

lol well the Rev difference is due to the mustang being a V6 and us having a nice 4 banger :-P
