My daughter has a 2002 Neon ES. The battery must have shorted out. I could jump the car to get it going but the battery light would come on. I replaced the battery and tested the alternator and got 14+ volts on the cables without the battery hitched up. My daughter said that before it died all the gauges pegged and then went back down except the tach. How can I get the tach back down to normal???
