Default Air conditioner taking power

Ok, so I've noticed that every time I turn on the ac, I lose a ridiculous amount of horsepower.[sm=headbang.gif] I can see the rpm needle drop much quicker between gears than if I don't have the ac running. I've heard some of those diy ac recharging kits can help. Has anyone tried? Any suggestions?

the recharge kits are just frion so that the air is cold again lol. theres nothing you can do. just drive with windows open if it really bothers you, but in WOT the car shuts off the a/c compressor and you dont lose power

yep it sucks but you gotta learn to live with it sadly.... when i have my ac on it feels like my car has cinder blocks on it lol. when i turn it off it feels much peppier (if thats a word). I can't be without the damn AC though i think i would literally cook in my car lol. el paso is HOOOOTTTTT!!!! we actually broke some high temp records recently lol. as for the AC recharge how easy is that to do? never really looked into it, but some place wanted to charge me 50 bucks just to see if i needed it...

Wow, almost fell for their advertisements (as far as replenishing lost horsepower). Thanx for the help. Wish I could go w/o but it gets hot here in MI too! We've been hitting 88-95 all summer! But I'm really worried about how my first winter is gonna treat my body kit. We have harsh winters [sm=smiley13.gif]

I feel ya on the winters, i have worried about lowering mine for the same reason... as for the recharge its not hard to do but requires the guages and pump if i remember correctly which are pricey to buy, not sure how much to rent.
