Default better Intake setup idea

This is kinda of a question. I just want to hear some opinions on this.

My neon is an '02 ES with fog lights. The only place the CAI actually gets air is under the wheel well...kinda a small area. Not a naturally flowing place for wind right?? Right behind my fog lights is my CAI. I know the neons without the fog lights have a whole right there so air can just rush through. Do you think it would help to remove the fog lights? It just seems like it would get a lot more air.

Btw, I'm more for power over looks and I would probably put some kind of screen on.

From what I hear the tire well in general has really low air pressure, and is a pretty ineffective way of retrieving cold air.

Yes, it is better than the engine bay, but not neccessarily the best way period for CAI's.

But yeah you could take out your fog and probably wouldn't notice any difference

I think I might try it. I mean... the air would be direct that way. The only problem is...the fog lights are a pain. I can't get them off and I don't know how to. I have looked and unscrewed bolts that I think my do the trick but it just doesn't want to budge.

trust me you are wasting your time. the car doesnt need that much air, having it where it is now is plenty

+1

You need your car to simply get decent air. The air in the engine is roasting hot so outside air is optimum. That said, the CAI (in my mind) is the best alternative. It is by no means in the best place, but it does its job. You dont need for it to be sitting between the hood and the front fascia scooping up air.

Well...at the time I really didn't have like 20,000 bucks. Neons can be tuned to go fast though. I have seen it.

Wouldn't more air be better? I mean...thats all a turbo does is gives your car more air. Just in a more forceful way...forced induction.

Btw, I'm not going to move it to the engine bay. if you look at NHARINTON's sig you can see what I'm talking about. He has the middle part of his fascia going to the radiator. On the drivers side there is another slit in the bumper kinda. That goes right to the CAI. On my car there is a fog light sealing that off.

mine is right thier behind the opening in the bumper, i used to just have a k&n in the engine bay, when i made my CAI it made a little diffrence but not huge. More air is better, but the engine can only suck up so much....... thats why you get a turbo, to force the air in.

right, but the wind when you are moving will force itself in you know? Right now there really isn't any "wind" getting in because of the only hole there is. Its probably not a big deal though. Idk, it would be easier for you to tell haha. Put duck tape over that hole and find out :P lol
