Default 2001 Dodge Neon SE - Major problem car

Hello. I really need some help with my 2001 Dodge Neon SE. I am a college student, and already have spent more than a couple grand for the car than expected. To top off the list, I did a calculation, and was able to determine that I am getting roughly 13 miles to the gallon, which is worse because my college is pretty far, and I don't have the money to refuel every other day. Anyway, I did the engine diagnostic codes and my hair stood straight up. I had the following codes, which I looked up:

p1684 - Driver 5, Line 4
p0743 - TCC Enable Solenoid Circuit Electrical
p0202 - Injector 2 Circuit Control
p0201 - Injector 1 Circuit Control
p0302 - Cylinder 2 misfire
p0508 - Idle Air Control Circuit Low

EDIT: I also want to mention that while my car is idle, it jerks in random beats constantly. Other times, while driving, I hear a loud pop come from the engine.

Any idea how much it would cost to fix some of these, especially the gas comsumption problem? I would also need it done as cheap as possible, because I'm already in a financial burden with paying for classes and books. Thank you all very much.

-Dave

I get that p1684 code, doesnt seem to be anything major though cuz i've been riding around for sometime now with that code and I also passed inspection with it like that. As far as the other codes, it almost seems like you're only running on 3 cylinders seeing how Injector 2 has a circuit problem and Cylinder 2 is misfiring. Or Injector 2might bestuck on, spraying constantly, which would be your fuel consumption problem. Buying a new injector or two and a new solenoid wouldnt be TOO much, but the labor costs would probably get you at a shop. But don't take my word for it, lets see what everyone else has to say.

Hey Mike, first off, thanks for the quick response.

While I do want to hear what other people will say about the problem, I want to thank you very much because already you have given me some form of hope of getting this mess fixed.

I've also added a few more things I didn't mention in my initial post. Maybe they may also help with the diagnosis.

Again, thanks very much.

i would change the plugs, wires, coil, get 4 new injectors or have yours checked out. and go from there.

Thats your misfire problem. If theres a dodge dealer near you or a reputable auto repair shop, you could just go and ask them to look at the car and see what they say. (remember, just because the dealer or shop looks at it, doesnt mean you have any obligation to get it repaired there.) But if you were going to do it yourself, you could do what Biged suggested. If you feel you have enough mechanical ability to do it. Otherwise, let a mechanic check it out. Four new injectors would be about $120 dollars (or about $45 each), a set of good wires about $30-40, spark plugs about $5-8 depending on the brand, and a good coil (MSD) about $60-70. Now thats what you would pay. If you went to a shop and they got this **** for you, they'd charge you those prices plus like 20%, PLUS labor. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the responses Mike and Biged. I really appreciate the help. I'll do some of the stuff, and I'll post to let y'all know how things worked out, just for future reference to anyone else who may encounter similar problems.

Good night everyone.

lol, seems like everyone gets that ****ty *** code p1684, I hate that code. But I have a new coil coming and the new wires are sitting in a box in my room. Soon as the coil comes i'll hook it all up.

I'll try to get wires tomorrow.

Any idea which specific wires I should get?

I don't want a crappy quality set of wires, or the wrong wire to begin with.

Thanks in advance.

How are you getting that bad of gas mileage? I have an 01' Neon SE and I drive to and from areas in Washington to Oregon 2 times a day for 5 days out of the week. I only have to fill up once a week and I speed everywhere...lol, got a $430 speeding ticket just recently.
